Lee appointed General Edmund Kirby Smith in command of the Western campaign where he was the last to surrender for the Confederacy. In the upstairs of the house, we take an insider’s look at the private research library for the historic society. The show and tell format is a rare opportunity to learn how the authentic items influenced history. The tour continues to the Fatio House and Museum. We step back in time to the mid 1800’s to see how Louisa Fatio ran her boarding house and the items her guests brought with them. The orange and fig trees in the courtyard are the ingredients for the homemade jams that are included as a tasty gift.
